One of the things I value the most about Alex Jeffreys’ program is his approach to planning and great systems he taught us.
I have not fully started my planning yet, but here is my first attempt to do that. It is actually an attempt to organize myself first.
I will use the following Alex’s ideas in the process.
- Planning for year, 90 plan, month plan, week plan. This is the most difficult part for me. I have some ideas, and specific projects, but it is hard to put them in time perspective. I guess I just need time to sort it out on paper.
- Plan next day the evening before. I fairly regularly plan my days ahead, but it is not every day.
- Use journal for you notes. I use Outlook for my notes and plans. However, I have also mails there, so it is difficult to focus on planning only (see also below part about mails). I use paper a lot for short ideas and sketches, so I will use real (paper) journal to see how it work. Alex’s journal is empty right now, but will be soon filled.
- Set clear income targets. I use this often, I even break it down to month, week and day numbers.
- Did sheet. I love this idea! This one idea made me realize, how much I waste my time with urgent, but not really important things! Thank you Alex!
- Work in productive, block sessions. I’m working on this every day. Now I’m in state that I can work 15-30 minus on one task uninterrupted. The next step is to have 45-60 minutes blocks. And after that 90 and 120 minutes blocks. But we’re not there yet.
- Don’t use email when in productive session and use email only 2 times a day. Applying this rule is very difficult. I use mail daily, also for planning (as shown above), so it is even harder not to look at emails often. I know this rule very well, but sometimes I feel like a drug addict – I know what is good for me, but I just cannot resist the temptation!
As you might notice, most of the concepts here need to be followed regularly, every day. This actually relates to creating daily habits.
This is one of the main concepts I learn from Eben Pagan’s “Wake Up Productive” program. He is talking about creating habit, how to keep it in place, how habits are form during 30 day period etc. All about this in the next article.

Hi Jozef, This is my first visit to your site, I am slowly working my way round all of Alex’s students blogs, a slow but important job I think. I agree with you about planning, I have to admit that at the beginning of the course I was guilty of just winging it day after day. I have now got to grips with plans and it is really obvious just how much time I was wasting, not being productive. I thought I was, but in reality – no.
I would be obliged if you have the time, to make a visit to my site and perhaps leave a comment. I would appreciate this. Thanks in anticipation.
Paull
Hi Paull,
thank you for your comment! Yes, I have the same feelings – too much to do, and not really working on important things.
I was actually browsing your blog the other day, but didn’t have time (maybe another excuse!) to post a comment.
Anyway, I made a small list of blogs I have to visit, and plan to devote at least 30 minutes a day for commenting on those blogs. I must make it a daily routine to make it really work.
‘See you’ on blog,
Jozef
Hi Jozef,
Dirk here, another of Alex Jeffreys Students.
You hit the nail on the head it’s definitely not easy. A lot of us have this sruggle, but the way I have found to work through it is take your stronger points under consideration, whether it be writing and apply it by oil rig hopping as I”m doing now. Write several posts and once you’ve put a good dent into that, you will have a sense of accomlishment and another item to check off your to do’s list. Mine was building my site and blog, the blog still isn’t up to par, but as Alex says, “Don’t be perfect, just get it going”.
Finding time for me, was cutting out the boob tube (tv), it ain’t gonna make me money, so why not work on my business to progress there. That’s the way I look at.
Don’t beat yourself up, take it in strides to push further for your goals, then you will notice it will come more naturally. It’s just like be’in the game, that’s all. You’re doing fine.
Speak with ya soon.
To your success,
Dirk Blanke
Hi Dirk,
thank you for your encouragement! Like you said, it has not to be perfect (although I think it is quite good …. just kidding
)
I’m going to look at your blog …
‘See’ you soon.
